February beginnings: new Prompt system, “scary” button, and much more! 2013-02-07 13:52:36
    • Admin

Few weeks have already passed after our last meeting so here is a new portion of cool features and news especially for you.

All new features of General World services is fruit of joint discussions between you and us, so we greatly appreciate your participation in efforts to improve our services and we welcome every brilliant idea and useful suggestion to make our project better.

    General Files

Let's start with new features inside the General Files. We’ve finally implemented a new Prompt System to make the search for music and books much more exciting. System compares all metadata relevant to your request and acquaints you with the list of all available works of this author. In simple terms, when you try to find any song of your favorite artist, Prompt System will offer you the whole track list of him available to download in General Files. The Prompt System is also intended to ease the life of book lovers.

    Search Result

Using book’s title the system will get its author as well as all his writings. We find this feature very convenient and there’s no doubt that you’ll like it much.

As you know, we always try to implement all good ideas coming from our users, even if some of them are a bit frightening for us :(

    Scared Face

Upon requests of some our users, we have added the "Delete Account" button. You will find it in your Profile settings. The button works well so there’s no need to test it.

    General Downloader

Finally, we’ve released a new version of General Downloader app for Desktop. It is upgraded noticeably and you’ll find a lot of improvements inside, including actualized list of fileshares, renewed design and much more. We’ve rebuilt software core and fixed all detected bugs, so now it’s absolutely optimized and ready to go!

More info about new features of General Downloader app for Desktop read on official page http://www.generaldownloader.com/. It’s absolutely FREE, so download it right now and enjoy all benefits of one of the best apps for searching and downloading files.

But not all news are good today. Here comes a fly in the ointment - we’ve got a big loss from file hosting side. Unfortunately, Rapidshare.com has switched to a “closed” file storage mode. From now users hosting their files with rapidshare.com should activate download permission to make their file available for sharing with other users. So all rapidshare links in General Files which were available yesterday, now have become useless for public sharing. But there are no reasons to get upset, because we’ve got tons of other file hosting websites in our index, and the list is growing constantly, as well as database of direct links. So don’t feel upset, with General Files you can always find lots of alternative links to download.

Rapidshare was always a file host that I would avoid if possible and only use if all others failed. Then suddenly, recently, it has/had become much improved. Great and constant downloading speeds suddenly happened, so Rapidshare became a good option. But I guess they were in the process of what you are saying here and wanted to attract people. Rapidshare has had a bad name from many people in the past because of its awful downloading style and speed. I think their sudden and brief improvement may be too late for them to attract the masses.

I don't usually visit here and never keep in touch with the latest so I miss out on a great deal of news and stuff I'm sure so forgive me if this is now old news but it seems that Mediafire has turned its back too. None of its files seem to be accessible any more :( ... Luckily I spent a lot of time raping their files already and have pretty much all the stuff I needed already ;)

According to Malwarebytes and Windows security essentials my system is clean. I do use an ip shielder but it has never caused a problem with Mediafire.

Take a look at this link http://www.mediafire.com/error.php?errno=388&quickkey=q02a1o0nimg
